What AI updates is Meta making?
Meta launched Muse Spark 1.1, an upgraded AI model that’s been designed to handle more complex tasks across apps and services. It can plan projects, use computer tools, write and fix code, understand images, video and audio, and delegate work to other AI agents. Meta says it can also remember information across different tasks and adapt when instructions or conditions change.
The launch comes with the release of the company’s Meta Model API for public preview, which will give developers access to Muse Spark 1.1.
Meta also expanded the availability of its Advantage+ Catalog Ads, allowing more advertisers to automatically create personalized ads using products from their catalog. Instead of manually building ads for individual products, the system suggests and shows items most relevant to each person based on their interests, shopping behavior and purchase intent.
Lastly, the company launched Muse Image for Businesses, bringing its AI image generation model to advertisers through Meta’s business tools.
Businesses can use text prompts to create marketing images, generate multiple versions of creative assets, edit existing images or swap visuals out for different campaigns, helping reduce the time and cost of producing ad creatives.
Why will Instagram charge for AI use?
Instagram will begin charging users for expanded access to some of its AI features at some point in the future.
In a recent Q&A, per Social Media Today, Instagram head Adam Mosseri said the company’s AI models are “very expensive to run,” so while basic access will remain free, heavy users will eventually have to pay for higher usage limits through a subscription, though pricing wasn’t discussed.
How is TikTok informing users about AI?
TikTok announced several new initiatives to help users better identify and understand AI-generated content. The platform is expanding its AI literacy efforts with educational guides, a new in-app learning hub that appears when people search for AI-related topics and continued funding for creators and organizations that teach responsible AI use.
The platform says it is also testing improved systems to detect and remove accounts that mass-produce AI-generated spam, particularly around politics, health and financial advice.
TikTok says it has already labeled more than 3 billion AI-generated videos using a mix of creator disclosures and watermarking technology.
How is X updating Community Notes?
X is adding a new feature that will send users a direct message when a post they’ve liked, replied to or reposted later receives a Community Note, Elon Musk announced.
The goal is to make sure people who engaged with potentially misleading content are notified when new context or a correction is added, instead of relying on them to stumble across the updated post later.
